Q. Can I modify the Job Types listed on the Add Job for This Client screen?
A. Within the Job Type menu, number one must remain Media. You may change the categories of numbers two through nine as well as add an indefinite number of numeric Types (10<). To do so, simply e-mail a list of the new Job Types, as well as their corresponding numbers, to help@developware.com and we'll be happy to make the modifications for you.

Q. How can I tell which Job Types are the most profitable for our agency?
A. Use the Gross Income Report to gauge the profitability of specific Job Types within your agency. This report allows you to monitor Gross Income by date range and Client, as well as by Job and Media Type. You create the report that you need via a series of drop-down menus.

Q. What's the difference between a Job Type and a Media Type?
A. Let's say, for example, my Client wants me to produce a "Summer Sale Campaign." It includes a newspaper ad (production only) and a (:30) television spot (both production and buying of media). I'd open the following Job Numbers:

"Summer Sale Campaign: Newspaper Production"

Job Type 10 Newspaper Production Media Type 0 - Not Media

Under this Number, I'd enter all Tasks, time and expenses associated with the production of the ad (i.e. copywriting, proofreading, client presentation, etc.).

"Summer Sale Campaign: (:30) Television Production"

Job Type 4 Television Production Media Type 0 - Not Media

Under this Number, I'd enter all Tasks, time and expenses associated with the production of the commercial (i.e. copywriting, storyboarding, client presentation, etc.).

"Summer Sale Campaign: (:30) Television Media"

Job Type 1 - Media Media Type 3 - Television Media

Under this Number, I'd enter all Tasks, time and expenses associated with the placement of the commercial (i.e. (3) spots on WAVE-TV, (2) spots on FOX, etc.).

By splitting the production and media buying components into different jobs, I can more accurately track the amount of time I spend producing the ad versus placing it on air.
